OUR INTERVIEW WITH BLUE ROAMER
"Once I think up a concept, I try to depict it on paper. My drawings always have a hidden meaning..."
What’s your background?
It was a spontaneous decision. For a long time, I’d been pondering on the idea of creating art that would come in handy if I wanted to create a brand of clothes. And since the Norse mythology was interesting to me, I used it as a point of reference in my art. That’s how it got started and it’s been 2 years since I’ve set up this instagram account and I still have a keen interest in drawing.
What sparked your interest in Norse and Viking mythology?
I think it was the Vikings series. After I watched the first season, which I enjoyed very much, I decided to explore the Norse mythology, the Vikings’ beliefs, and also their customs (how they lived, what they achieved etc.)
Where do you go to find inspiration?
To be honest, I try to look for it everywhere. I’m usually inspired by nature, my own experiences, and my previous works.
Which themes do you pursue when creating Rune & Bindrune art?
I don’t create many artworks in this style as I prefer standard drawings which contain hidden meaning, because I have more possibilities and that way, I can show off a bit. But back to your question – when I create Rune & Bindrune art I’m mostly guided by the themes of hope, fate, belief, and nature.
Who are your biggest influences?
I don’t have a mentor. In my art I strive to reflect things that are important to me or matters that are on my mind on a particular day. Once I think up a concept, I try to depict it on paper. My drawings always have a hidden meaning, and though sometimes one may find it hard to take notice of it, behind every work there’s a story.
Tell us about your favourite pieces of artwork.
I have a lot of favourites. In a way I love all my drawings because apart from the symbolic meaning, the circumstances under which they were made are of importance, too. One of my absolute favourites are: “The Humanity Path”, “Ancestors’ Hands”, and all drawings of trees. “The Seer”, “Priest” and “Wizard”, these hold a special place in my heart, because they are one of my first drawings ever, and they got me started.
What motivates you to create?
A greater purpose. With my art I want to inspire others. I also have my own goals and dreams which I’d like to make come true in the future.
Do you ever collaborate with other artists?
I did not. But I’m open for that kind of opportunity, it’s a wonderful idea, so hopefully I’ll get a chance to collaborate with other artists.
Where can people find your work?
You can find my art on Instagram, but in the future, I plan to expand and share my drawings on different social media platforms.
